Reflections
on my Late Father

Drawings on napkins with pilot pens,
Never touch the walls again,
Explore all of nature, man's best friends,
Question everything til the end,
Reverance for nature, but no God's allowed,
Always stay humble, but always be proud,
Question authority, everyone but me,
Do as you're told and speak softly,
Focus, focus, focus, it's never not your fault,
Never play the victim til your soul is crushed apart,
Be good to your neighbors, trust the legal process,
Til it all backfires and leads to household crisis,
You don't need me to hold your hand,
Now get out there, explore the land,
But not too long, do as you're told,
Don't quit school, don't be so bold,
I've built a kingdom, it's for you, too,
Just accept it, why can't you?
Family is the most important thing,
I've sacrificed everything for this circus ring,
I'm the ring leader, you're just a clown,
But you can be me, too, if you stick around!
Everything you're doing, I've done it, too,
You're young and stupid, it's nothing new,
I feel the family is breaking apart,
Can't you just stick around and do your part?
I gave up my life, so you do the same,
Don't think there's any way out of this game,
It's not about fortune, it's not about fame,
It's about being different by being the same,
For the world to change, old folks must pass on,
Wait, I didn't mean me, I meant my Mom!
My defenses are down, you're starting to get through,
But it's too much for me so I bid you adieu!

God help us all, we know not what we do.
And God rest his soul, whatever that means.
